Beehive Books Delaware Ohio

Beehive Books opened recently in downtown Delaware Ohio. It is located next to Nectar CandyLand at 25 N Sandusky St.  They have books, magazines, and newspapers from other cities. There is also a nice coffee shop that serves the coffee of the day for $1.40-$1.55 and other snacks like sandwiches and apples.  You get $10 off for every $125 you spend, and no card is necessary. They just have you register the first time you purchase something. This bookstore is very clean, neat, and cozy. Beehive Books is an excellent place to get a coffee and browse through their books. As a book- lover, I am very happy to have a full service, independent bookstore in the community. Nice selection, comfortable ambience.

I picked up the Super Bowl Sports Illustrated today. This is a really nice neighborhood bookstore. It is becoming one of my favorite places in Downtown Delaware Ohio.

I went to buy several books as christmas gifts and they had to order most of them in. They also do not offer any discounts, even on large orders. I paid full price. I then found one of the books I ordered for $24 at Krogers for $9.95. I recommend you do your price shopping before going there.

The Beehive staff and owners are extremely helpful and friendly. My husband and I enjoy the coffee and the reward program. The store is very comfortable and inviting. Delaware is lucky to have an independent book store like the Beehive.

    I love this store.
I don’t personally live in Delaware, but my sister does and this is a place that I absolutely love to visit.

    it’s so welcoming.

I loved having the magazines integrated into the book section. It led me to me find books about topics I had an interest in and, ipso facto, magazines I wasn’t familiar with from books I enjoyed. While the selection is limited due to space, it is extremely well thought out and I left happy with several magazines, a novel, and a recommendation for great pizza! I’ll drive the half hour north to Delaware to avoid the big box stores to find a staff that cares about books and not units sold!

If you are shopping by price, then you might want to go somewhere else. They are a small store and can’t offer the discounts that you might find at larger stores like Walmart or Kroger. However, I personally, would rather have a Beehive Books in my area than a Walmart or Kroger. They have quite a selection for such a small space and the owners are so personable and will sit down and chat with you when you visit. The coffee drinks are yummy and it is a cozy place to sit and read a book. My suggestion, if it is in your budget, spend the extra cash and support this local book store.

Well that’s what it comes down to, isn’t it? We all know that the big stores can do the economy of scale thing but they certainly don’t do the friendly atmosphere, personalized service of a small, downtown store. Big stores only carry the books that sell lots of copies and most of the clerks there don’t know or care anything about the authors or other books they have written. If price is your only consideration, you will probably shop online or go to the discount stores. But you might notice that the staff members of Beehive have been there for quite awhile. And they are helpful, fun, positive and obviously enjoy working there.
I go to Beehive because I love to sit unhurried and drink hot chocolate while browsing through all sorts of books that I would love to read.

Got something to say?
